The Assembly of Neurology German in Berlin that the low rate of deep sleep is responsible for the decline in memory in the elderly.

It pointed out that deep sleep is important to enhance memory, emphasizing that the sleep patterns of people change over the years, as the youth at the age of twenty-fifth or less spend 19 percent of their sleep in a deep sleep and would decrease by about 3 percent between the ages of thirty-sixth session.

The Society stated that young people spend more than an hour in a deep sleep during the first half of the night, where sleep deeply completely, while that for the elderly in the deep sleep 18 minutes only, and those who suffer from the continuing unrest in the sleep periods are sleeping deep short and damage the mental ability to store what they have learned in their waking hours.
